The brief

Over the past two months we have run a short series of taster sessions aimed at women living in the Millfield area. These have included an Empowerment workshop, a performance of Uchenna Dances’ Headwrap Diaries and a workshop on the theme of Decorum that explored the social norms women follow or feel obliged to follow.  The response to these sessions have been overwhelmingly positive with participants describing their experiences as fun, constructive, moving, powerful, beautiful and upbeat.

We would now like to build on this success by commissioning an artist or arts organisation to deliver a project that will:

·         Provide opportunities for local women to experience art and increase confidence in  taking part in creative activities

·         Raise the profile of the arts within the city’s diverse communities

·         Engage at least 50 people as participants and/or audience

There is no limit on artform; we are interested in projects that have the potential to be fun, constructive, moving, powerful, beautiful and upbeat.

Project budget

The total project budget is £5,000. This is inclusive of project outputs, materials, fees and VAT. Travel expenses are separate.
